Hi Alan,
Like I do just about everyday I was checking out your website and checked out your Gaditanos you have for sale. You have two Brown Grizzles on there.What does it mean when you say you have "docked' their crops?

Docking the crop means I take a rubber band and pull out a section of front of the crop and tie it which will in time will pinch off the circulation and that part of the crop falls off and heals together making a much smaller crop. The same as they dock a puppies tail. Or castrate a hog. In fact a use a castration tool to do it.
Some people do it to all their older big blowers to avoid any future crop problems and it allows them to feed their own babies. It looks ugly but it prevents any future problems. I only do it to chronic cases of over eaters/drinkers.
It's bad here in the desert in the summer because the birds will over drink when it's so dry and hot. Most other areas don't have the troubles I do, even Florida because of the high humidity.
