Male Infertility and vent triming
I have a 08 mostly laudino male who has yet to fill and egg. I was dusting him today and realized he is overly fluffy and loose feathered.( WHat ever they used to add rec. white to him must have been very well feathered. ) It decided to trim his vent by pulling alot of the feathers around the area. Hopefully this will help. Has anyone had to trim vents on any spanish pouter breeds? I dont know why I never thought of it before. What spanish pouter breeds have recessive white and are loose feathered?

Re: Male Infertility and vent triming
Maybe he has Marchenero blood? I don't know.
Granadino would be the idea cross for recessive white. I am not sure if it is in Jiennense. I do have it in Picas though.
I have had to trim Marcheneros and some Gaditanos. It makes a big difference with the Marchies.
I trim the vent as close as possible with sharp scissors. I also cut off the tail, primary flights and hocks.

There are recessive white Jiennense but they are few and far between, I think because they prefer the fiery red eye. Extreme grizzles with orange eyes are quite popular.

Re: Male Infertility and vent triming
The interesting thing is in the sun his eyes are blood red except for the "eye sign" area and they are black. I am crossing my figures and hope he will fill an egg. For now I am putting him on a catalonian hen. I he fills it then I will look for a pouter hen. He is an awesome flier and has great drive and fire. I put him in the all hen loft yesterday and f hens began to chase him, it was like a suelta with hens.

Good luck with him Matt, a bit of wheatgerm oil might help things along a bit too.

Wow! You always come up with some great photos!
I wonder how Grizzle on ash red bar combined with faded would turn out. You would think it would white-out.

Re: Male Infertility and vent triming
I expect it probably would show very little colour, if any at all.
