Gaditanos and sour crop
I now use a band castrator to dock the crops of chronic cases of Gaditanos that get sour crop. It cures them with no problems and there's no more sour crop issues, they can feed the young OK the rest of their lives. The drawback is it cuts off half their globe and they can never be shown again. I taught my friend Mike Hughes about docking crops and he now uses it on almost all his old Norwich Croppers. This is the one I have: http://www.jefferslivestock.com/ssc/product.asp?CID=2&pf_id=16146

Re: Gaditanos and sour crop
I picked up a Gorguero the other day. Nice bird but seems like an unrefined Jiennense to me with a larger crop.

Re: Gaditanos and sour crop
Alan
honestly I can't tell the difference between the Gorguero and Jiennese.
even though the Spaniards have a standard for each breed....
I think the Gorguero have the big wattles

Re: Gaditanos and sour crop
My gaditano get sour crop last week. I bring it back to home.I squeze all out liquid in a crop then give original scots emulsion with 10ml full syringe 4 times a day together with zam-zam water (alkaline water) and dap around neck and crop with hand warming tool. So poor its crop bleeding cause of claw when walking. I put aloe vera to stop the blood and healing with gamat oil ( dry sea cucumber) It takes 2 day and gaditano start eating and drink like usual. Day 3 morning gaditano look fresh n healthy. I blow the crop and gaditano back to normal again with cheer sound. Afternoon give sun bath and put back in cage. My gaditano so happy keep move and turning with good sound.
