What do I need to do to view it?nondisclosed_email@example.com (gazzman58)Wed, 02 Dec 2009 15:03:12 +0000 Re: Tucson showhttps://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1518,from=rss#post1518https://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1518,from=rss#post1518One note of interest. I spoke with Mike Hughes in detail about the Horseman in the US getting bigger and bigger. He said a few weeks ago he stopped by Scott Morrison's loft in Scotland (one of the top Horseman breeders over there) and said his birds are tiny compared with ours. Mike pointed out one of my Andalusian project birds which is the smallest Horseman I have and said Scott's birds are all his size Ever since I have been into Horseman I have seen the trend go larger and larger till now many are the size of Norwich. While at the show I asked two separate pigeon men who know nothing about Pouters which bird was larger, the winning Norwich or the winning Horseman. Both men said the Horseman was larger. I have a video of the two birds side by side at the show. You be the judge. This Horseman won best Horseman at the Pageant of Pigeons. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Gaditano)Wed, 02 Dec 2009 11:35:33 +0000 Re: Tucson showhttps://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1517,from=rss#post1517https://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1517,from=rss#post1517In all fairness to the judge, Horseman have only been in the states for 5 years and most have never seen them before. I appreciate the fact the next day he came to me asking where he went wrong. He said he was wanting to learn. I gave him an honest assessment of my opinion and he appreciated it and even said he would like to get a pair of Horseman. Yes, Gary, I am sure you will see more of me. It was fun. Oh and Gary, watch out for crossbreeds next time you judge nondisclosed_email@example.com (Gaditano)Wed, 02 Dec 2009 10:55:57 +0000 Re: Tucson showhttps://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1516,from=rss#post1516https://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1516,from=rss#post1516Alan, It was good to see you at the Tucson Poultry & Pigeon Show. You have some impressive birds. I did like the blue horseman over the yellow for reasons that I told you at the show. It was however an impressive bird that you might consider using in your breeding program. Hope to see you at more shows.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Gary63)Wed, 02 Dec 2009 10:46:04 +0000 Re: Tucson showhttps://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1515,from=rss#post1515https://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1515,from=rss#post1515Looking good Alan, glad you had a good day, some lovely birds there. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Glassfeather)Wed, 02 Dec 2009 09:32:50 +0000 Re: Tucson showhttps://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1514,from=rss#post1514https://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1514,from=rss#post1514The blue grizzle horseman is quite the looker. On the "gad doo" note, now we see first hand how show breeds can evolve. Just hope a bunch of those dont turn up next year they may beat out the pure horseman lol. nondisclosed_email@example.com (MattCoonDAWG)Wed, 02 Dec 2009 09:03:34 +0000 Re: Tucson showhttps://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1513,from=rss#post1513https://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1513,from=rss#post1513Thanks Manny, this show was real fun! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Gaditano)Tue, 01 Dec 2009 21:10:33 +0000 Re: Tucson showhttps://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1512,from=rss#post1512https://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1512,from=rss#post1512congrats alan all smashing birds especially like the bluebar w/f gaddie and the yellow check cross nondisclosed_email@example.com (mad manny)Tue, 01 Dec 2009 20:21:40 +0000 Re: Tucson showhttps://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1511,from=rss#post1511https://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1511,from=rss#post1511Two of the Voorburgs I entered nondisclosed_email@example.com (Gaditano)Tue, 01 Dec 2009 19:19:10 +0000 Re: Tucson showhttps://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1510,from=rss#post1510https://bpoutersandcroppers.runboard.com/p1510,from=rss#post1510These are some of the Gaditanos I entered. There was 1400 poultry and 270 pigeons. We had about 50 pouters. 20 Gaditanos, 15 Horseman, some Norwich, Voorburgs and Brunners. We had four exhibitors of Gaditanos and two of Horseman (Mike Hughes and myself) I entered 10 Gaditanos, 5 Horseman and 3 Voorburgs. A Tort Gaditano from my stock won two trophies for best Pouter and reserve fancy. Here's some pictures I took of the birds I entered. Some of these were taken at home just before the show in the coop-training cages. An old cоck Grizzle Horseman   Young Brown Grizzle cоck Horseman Spread Ash Red old cock This blue bar was entered by Mike Hughes but now belongs to me. It was entered as a young hen but we now think it's a cоck. I needed a hen but if it's a cоck it will carry reduced, so I am happy either way. I traded him with a Gaditano. This bird I enetered as a Horseman as a joke to see how bad the judging was. It's a Horseman x Gaditano cross. Sure enough, it won best young hen and even beat out the blue bar pictured above. The bird displays nicely in a show cage. It goes to show displaying means more than type in many circles. I was planning to enter a lot more Horseman but these were the only ones coop trained. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Gaditano)Tue, 01 Dec 2009 18:54:32 +0000
