Re: NPA bands

I was told by an officer of one of the POuter and cropper clubs that as long as its tight enough not to be slipped off you can use a bigger band. He also said that since I hadnt banded some of my laudinos that I should stop and raise ferals instead.

I believe the exact quote was, "if your not going to band them you might as well raise commies". I took it negatively. I now have none.

Re: NPA bands

I have heard the same comment before. I think what people are saying is why raise an expensive pigeon breed but not take the time to band it. To some people it doesn't make sense not to band birds and I agree.

Re: NPA bands

I tried emailing sevral officers of three differant clubs in order to find the proper size. By the time I got an answer it was to late. I did not want to use the band size on the list because I knew it was to small. I didnt want to waste time and money on too small or too big bands. It just goes to show that too many people are put off by overly serious individuals.

Re: NPA bands

You should band your pigeons, if for no other reason to keep track of the year of birth and number.

I've told the NPA numerous times that all Spanish Pouters don't take size 8 bands. Some need size 7 and some need size 9. But they don't listen to me. I guess you need to represent a specialty club before they will listen.
