Genetics of brown
Ok so an ash red male and a brown hen produce 100% ash red young with the males carrying brown. Those males then will have a chance (25%?) to throw brown hens? Then if you breed the brown hen back to the fater you have a 50% chance to get brown in both sexes? Does the False pearl eye in browns look the same as pearl eye?

Re: Genetics of brown
Ash Red cоck x Brown hen = Ash Red cocks carrying Brown & Ash Red hens
Ash Red cоck carrying Brown x Blue hen = 1/4 Ash Red cocks carrying Blue - 1/4 Blue cocks carrying Brown - 1/4 Brown hens - 1/4 Ash Red hens
Ash Red cоck carrying Brown x Brown hen = 1/2 Brown cocks and hens - 1/4 Ash Red cocks carrying Brown - 1/4 Ash red hens
Yes, the false pearl eye looks like a pearl eye, but is genetically an orange eye, if the strain is orange eyed. I don't know if I have ever seen a brown with orange eyes. The eye is one easy way to tell them from a Dun or Silver, that is if the strain is orange eyed. The brown will have a false pearl eye and the dun or silver orange eyes.

Re: Genetics of brown
Cool. Now that I know I have a male cat with a brown mother I am on way to brown in bar and checkers. Plus orange eye genes will be obsolete in a stud of brown. So long as you dont cross on other colors.
He is my favorite male catalonian I have.

Re: Genetics of brown
Very nice... they don't look like much in pics but there's something about the Cats once you have them that's special. I think it might be intelligence. I don't know. Even though trying to catch them is frustrating. Never have I had such a hard time trying to catch a breed of pigeon.
